Federal Board of Revenue has launched Electronic Filing of Appeals with effect from 1st January, 2021.
The Federal Board of Revenue has started electronic filing of appeals from January 1, 2021. Under with the orders of Inland Revenue tax authorities, the first appeal is filed with the Commissioner of Inland Revenue (Appeals). The FBR is working to ensure the automation of all its systems and the full convenience of taxpayers, and the convenience of filing appeals electronically is an important step in that direction.
Federal Board of Revenue in collaboration with Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited developed software for e-filing of appeals. In this regard, the views of various stakeholders including ICAP, ICMAP and PTBA were also sought. Thanks to the system, taxpayers affected by the tax authorities’ orders will now be able to file their appeals on the Iris web portal. An automated system for e-filing of appeals will benefit both revenue and taxpayers.
Taxpayers received tax orders of Inland Revenue tax authorities may file first appeal before the Commissioner (Appeals). Providing facility of filing of appeals electronically by the taxpayer is another step towards automaton of FBR and digital Pakistan. FBR has collaborated with Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited for development of software for e-filing of appeals.

ICAP, ICAMP and PTBA also provided there input in the development of FBR’s appeal management system. The system will enable the taxpayers to e-file appeals on the Iris Web Portal. Both the revenue and the taxpayers will reap the benefits of the automated system for e-filing of appeals.
