WhatsApp has delayed its new privacy policy as users run away from competing apps.
WhatsApp is delaying updating its privacy policy after widespread confusion over what data it shares with its parent company, Facebook. Last month, WhatsApp began notifying users of its updated terms and privacy policy, which people had agreed to continue using after February 8.
A special part of the policy concerns users: which user’s data is collected and shared with Facebook, including the protection of privacy and the protection of people’s data. There is a record track record nearby. The confusion surrounding the update has contributed to the growing number of users moving to competitive apps like Signal.
According to CNN report now “The WhatsApp update will no longer be available until May 15.”

WhatsApp announcing the delay in privacy policy implementation
“We’ve heard from so many people how much confusion there is around our recent update. There’s been a lot of misinformation causing concern and we want to help everyone understand our principles and the facts,” WhatsApp announced in a blog post on Friday announcing the delay.

In a blog post on Friday, WhatsApp stressed that its platform has end-to-end encryption features, meaning that neither Facebook can view users’ private messages. It also does not log into who users are calling or texting. WhatsApp says it can’t see a person’s shared location and doesn’t share user contacts with Facebook.
The policy updates are largely effects on people chatting with businesses on the WhatsApp. Businesses that use the app to connect with users can choose to save their chat logs to Facebook’s hosting services. But WhatsApp said it would explicitly label the chat, so it’s up to the user to decide if they want to message that business.
