Pakistan’s auto sector is on the path to a beautiful recovery as it will launch the largest number of new cars in a year in 2021.
“This is the first time in Pakistan’s history that more than 15 new cars have been launched across the country in a single year,” said Arsalan Hanif, an analyst at Arif Habib Limited, in a comment to the Express Tribune on Tuesday. “We expect the auto sector to perform better this year for a number of reasons.”
Upcoming Cars in 2021
The list of new cars going to launch in January 2021, revealed that United Motors unveiled the Alpha, Toyota introduced the Corolla X, Changan began taking orders for the Alsvin and Proton introduced the X70. In addition, new models were launched in February, including Morris Garages (MG), ZS, Sorento by Kia Lucky and Saga by Proton.
The new cars expected to unveil in March include the Corolla Cross from Toyota, the Elentra Hyundai Nishat and the X25 by BAIC, according to the research house. “In April, Pak Suzuki will be launching the Swift and MG will be unveiling the electric vehicle ZS.
Progress of car industry in 2020
In the last six months, auto financing has increased from Rs 211 billion to Rs 262 billion, a jump of Rs 51 billion. According to him, relatively low interest rates play a big role in increasing this number. In 2018, 78,000-80,000 used cars imported, however, that number dropped to only 10,000 in 2020.
The policy against the import of used cars has made a huge difference and new car collectors like Lucky Motors and Hyundai Nishat will take advantage of this difference. He said that new companies, which are entering the country, will have to buy auto parts from local manufacturers, which will increase the production of auto parts in Pakistan.
