Early life and education
Dr Raza Baqir graduated fromHarvard University. After this he obtained a PhD in economics at theUniversity of California Berkley.
Professional Career
Before his current position as Governor, State Bank of Pakistan. Dr Raza Baqir held different positions in the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Such positions included being the Mission Chief forRomaniaandBulgaria. He was also the IMF’s Senior Resident Representative.
In 2019,PresidentArif Alviappointed Dr Raza Baqir as Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan for a period of three years. The appointment took place a day after his predecessorTariq Bajwawas removed from his post.
