A prize bond is like an investment. In Pakistan, it is very famous in public. Nowadays two types of prize bonds are being issued. One is normal prize bonds which are negotiable. Another one is premium prize bonds, which are issued in the name of a specific person. Premium prize bonds are not negotiable, but these can only be uncashed through Banks. When it is uncashed then your amount is directly transferred into your bank account.
Denominations of Prize Bonds
Nowadays premium prize bonds are issued in the following denominations:
- PKR 25,000 and
- PKR 40,000
Prize bonds other than the premium bonds are issued in the following denominations:
- PKR 100
- PKR 200
- PKR 750
- PKR 1500
Tax Deductions on Prize bonds
When prize bonds are drawn the winner can get his winning amount from the State Bank of Pakistan / National Saving Centre. At the time of paying the amount of the prize on the Prize Bond, Income Tax is deducted @15% from the Active Tax filer in FBR and @30% from the winner who is not an Active Tax Filer with FBR.
Prize Bond Schedule 2022
The prize bond draw schedule is issued for a complete year. Directorate General of National Savings issues schedules for one year both for Premium and another type of prize bonds.
