Big Automaker Honda and Sony will Develop Electric Cars. Sony and Honda have established a joint venture to develop electric cars. After the announcement of a joint venture (JV) previously in June 2022, Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) has now been formally established to develop electric cars.
The new company has disclosed its production location and timeline, starting with pre-orders in 2025.

Chairman and CEO Yasuhide Mizuno (from Honda) and president and COO Izumi Kawanishi (from Sony), announced the formal establishment. Let us discuss about this new joint venture in auto industry:
- The company is based in Tokyo, Japan.
- Owned equally by the two partners
- Initial capital is 10 billion yen (about 70 million euros)
- Pre-orders for the first electric car scheduled for the first half of 2025
- Deliveries already scheduled to start in the United States in the spring of 2026, followed by Japan in the second half of 2026.
