In a new development, Saudi Arabia has set a travel permit requirement for foreign travelers with the COVID-19 vaccine. However, the new condition has made it difficult for Pakistanis to plan to travel to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This is because the list of vaccines recommended by the Gulf country does not include any medicine made in China. According to media reports, the state has recommended the use of Pfizer, Oxford, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccines. In Pakistan, however, most people are being vaccinated with Chinese vaccines (Sinopharm, CanSino, and SinoVac.)
According to media reports, people who do not receive shots from the recommended vaccine must undergo a period of quarantine in Saudi Arabia. Passengers will also pay for the quarantine. According to reports, the new condition will take effect on May 20 and onward.
After receiving the first batch of SinoPharm vaccines, Pakistan launched a vaccination campaign against its corona virus on February 2. Since then, more than 2.8 million people in the country of more than 220 million have been given the first dose and it has fully vaccinated about 293,000 people, or 0.4% of its population. The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) plans to vaccinate 70 million people by the end of this year.
