Here is good news the Canadian Government has announced an extension in the deadline date for visit visa holders who have valid job offers and will continue to be able to apply for and receive a work permit without having to leave the country.

Following are important facts of the latest announcement from the Canadian Government:

  1. All those who had a work permit in the last 12 months and are applying under this revised policy can also request to start working for their new employer sooner.
  2. The policy, which was set to expire on 28 February 2022, will now continue until 28 February 2025.
  3. This extension will allow Canadian firms to overcome their staff shortage.
  4. Before this new policy, visit visa holders had to first leave Canada to get a work permit after getting a job offer.

Requirements for new policy from Canadian Government regarding Visit Visa Holders

The following requirements need to submit:

  1. When applying, have a current visiting status in Canada.
  2. Get a job offer that sanctioned by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or an offer of employment that is exempt from an LMIA.
  3. Before the deadline noted above, submit an application for an employer-specific work permit.
  4. Fulfill all other requirements also.
