Surcharge Imposed for Clearance of Banned Consignments

Government has allowed release of banned consignments subject to imposition of 15% surcharge. This is in terms of paragraph 20 of the Import Policy Order, 2022. These consignments are those which banned previously vide SRO 598(I)/2022 dated 19th May, 2022 and are pending for Customs Clearance.

Provided such consignments landed at any port including sea, air or dry port on or before 30th June 2022. Subject to payment of surcharge to impose on the C&F value of goods at the following rates:

  • Shipments arrived within two weeks of issuance of the SRO 598(1)/2022 dated 19th May 2022, surcharge rate is 5 percent.
  • Shipments arrived after two weeks of issuance of SRO 598(1)/2022 till 30th June, 2022, surcharge is 15 percent.
Supply of Banned Shipments through courier services. Surcharge Imposed for Clearance of Banned Consignments.

Moreover, FBR has advised all Collectors to facilitate the release of bonafide baggage and small quantities of non-commercial items. Which stopped earlier for undue checking of small gift items and other personal belongings sent through postal or courier services.
