Chinese Consul General to Pakistan and Chairman Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company joined in collaboration in gems and Jewellery industry.
A meeting was held between the Chinese Consul General to Pakistan and Chairman Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) in the port city on Monday to discuss the possibilities of collaboration and cooperation between Pakistan and China regarding the development of gems and jewellery Industry.
According to a statement issued in this regard, Chairman Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) explained that a public sector organisation working on it. It’s working under the Federal Ministry of Industries and Production, Government of Pakistan. The company now declared as an autonomous body of the Ministry of Industries & Production (MoIP).
During the meeting, they discussed the potential of Pakistan’s gemstones industry. At present, Pakistan ranks 5th in the world with regards to gemstone reserves. Gemstone reserves in Pakistan includes high-quality emeralds, ruby, sapphire, aquamarine, peridot, topaz, and tourmaline. The treasures of these precious stones explores all over the world. There is an urgent need to take advantage of this potential to increase exports.
During the meeting, various areas of mutual cooperation discussed and emphasized. Chinese investment brought in for the establishment of leprosy and special industrial parks for cutting, polishing, wrestling and sculpting gemstones.
