Government increases the rate of return of National Savings Certificates

Ministry of Finance issued a notification, whereby the rate of return on Defense Savings Certificates has been increased from 8.49 percent to 9.42pc while the rate of return on regular income certificates has been increased from 8.04pc to 9pc.

Defense Savings Certificates / Regular income certificates

The rate of return on National Savings Certificates has been increased. The Ministry of Finance has issued a notification to increase the rate of return on national savings schemes from January 21 2021. A notification issued by the Ministry of Finance said that the rate of return on Defense Savings Certificates has been increased from 8.49 per cent to 9.42pc while the rate of return on regular income certificates has been increased from 8.04pc to 9pc.

Special and Behbood Savings Certificates 

According to the announcement, the rate of return on Special Savings Certificates increased from 7.77pc to 7.97pc while the rate of return on Behbood Savings Certificates  also increased from 10.32pc to 11.28pc.

Pensioners Benefit / Shuhada Family Welfare Account

Similarly, the rate of return on Pensioners Benefit Accounts increased from 10.32 pcs to 11.28 pcs while the rate of return on Shuhada Family Welfare Account also increased from 10.32 pcs to 11.28 pcs.

Short term savings certificates

On short term savings certificates profit increased to 6.76 pcs for a period of 3 months. While the rate of return for 6 months increased from 6.80 pcs to 6.82 pcs and for 12 months. The rate of return increased from 6.80pc to 6.92pc.

Savings Accounts

The interest rate on the savings account will remain at 5.5 pc, according to a Finance Ministry statement.
